Buy.at Toolkit announcement

Today buy.at is proud to announce the launch of the Marketing Toolkit!

The Toolkit has been designed as an easy way for affiliates to access a wider breadth of information regarding programmes. Affiliates can browse the Toolkit by sector to discover Christmas promotions, affiliate incentives, last order dates and much more.

During the run up to Christmas we will be updating the Toolkit daily with information regarding the best performing programmes in terms of hot selling products, EPC’s and conversion rates in order for you to make the most out of your promotions.

We are also using the toolkit to host our buy.at baby competition, offering you the chance to win a great prize every day up until Christmas!

However, this Toolkit is for life, not just for Christmas , and will continue to help your promotions throughout the year with a finance section launching in time for the January uplift.

To access the Toolkit please visit the buy.at homepage (where you will be asked to log into it using your normal details), or visit your management areas where you can find a link in the ‘content and feeds’ section.

Merchants can also view the toolkit via the homepage or through your management areas, but this time the link is in the ‘retailer’ section.

YouTube vs Traditional TV

The battle was on today TV vs Internet video sites - below is from BBC News

Online video 'eroding TV viewing'

Video sharing site YouTube has taken online viewing to the masses
The online video boom is starting to eat into TV viewing time, an ICM survey of 2,070 people for the BBC suggests.
Some 43% of Britons who watch video from the internet or on a mobile device at least once a week said they watched less normal TV as a result.

And online and mobile viewing is rising - three quarters of users said they now watched more than they did a year ago.

But online video viewers are still in the minority, with just 9% of the population saying they do it regularly.

Interesting to see how this trend goes, will there be a TV vs Internet battle - or will the services merge in the age of Digital TV.

Personally I would like to see a merge and maybe have youtube as a channel on UK satalite TV.

Looks like no cheep Beer, spirits and wine online for the UK

From the BBC - "EU blocks low-duty alcohol online"
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/6175646.stm

There was fear/delight that it would be legal for spirits, beer, wine and tabacco products could be imported via mail order to the UK where the duty paid to the government on said items is very high.

But today the EU saw fit to stop this.

Shoppers wishing to get the benefit of buying cheaper goods abroad have to accompany the goods back themselves.

It had been feared a ruling going the other way would have hit thousands of UK retailers, could have spelled the end for the "booze cruise" and forced the UK goverment to recoup lost tax in other ways.

Good thing or bad thing - not quite sure.

Getting Links In - Better than Adsense?

If like me you are blowing a good few hundred dollars / pounds / euros (or whatever) a month on google adsense it might make sense to try some alternative methods to get some quality traffic.
One great way is to buy text links from a service like text-link-ads depending on the quality of site you can pay anything from $20 - $600 dollars a month for a link. If you have a quality site you can benefit from this cash by 'renting ad space' out to using the same text-link-ads service.

As agreat intro bonus text-link-ads are giving away $100 in FREE Links.

Text links in can be great as they can also be good for SEO.

All you need is the one free sign up (you can sign up with Text Link Ads HERE) and you have access to their ad sales and affiliate program.

Also they have a bundle of tools like their link worth calculator.

Dating Affiliate Programs

There are a few dating programs out there - but lets face it they only pay a couple of pounds for a sign up.

What we are seeing more of in the affiliate industry now are programs with revenue for life. This is where the future lies.

I have just signed up for the amazing EasyFlirt where you can brand your own dating website and gain loads of javascript creatives to plug easily into your site.

I very quickly knocked up this site though there are fully customisable meta tags and page titles (that I will have to find the time to ammend later on) you can also change the branding to match your site.

As far as getting paid goes you receive 55% of the subscription purchases and 55% of the subscription renewals.

At the time of writing that is 13€ a month - about $16 US Dollars and about £8.50 pounds sterling. Get a few to register and these payments will soon mount up.

EasyFlirt's affiliate program sign up and more details can be found HERE

Buy.at Affiliate Network announcent

Just a little announcement of interest from Buy.at

buy.at is moving to paying affiliates by BACS bank transfer to all UK bank accounts. This means no more trips to the bank with big cheques!

Tonight, emails are going out to all our affiliates we forecast will be receiving a payment at the end of this month. It will explain the process of getting the details back to us.

This does have a tight deadline in it for November (next Monday the 20th), but if you don't manage to do it for November's run there will be bags of time for December's run. BACS amounts will arrive on the 29th of the month.

Good to hear, been a long time comming as buy.at have been one of the very few affiliate networks that still pay using paper cheques.

Amazon Astores are great - Some tips and Tricks

OK I have been spending a lot of time creating aStores for the amazon affiliate program.
Here are a small selection of the stores that I have created :

Video Games Console Store - Home Page

Star Wars Store - Star Wars Store

Doctor Who Amazon Store - Home Page

Robin Hood Store - Sherwood Forest Home Page

Scifind.co.uk Web Store - Scifind WebStore

My Associates Store - Zune Amazon Store

My Associates Baby and Parenting Store - Baby Store

Xbox 360 Associates Store - Home Page

Amazon Zune Store - Zune Store

I am particularly proud of the Zune store - made to celebrate the release of Micorsoft Zune MP3 Player

I have tried intergrating one store into my James Bond site - located at JamesBondRocks.com
Though it isn't the best intergration of the store, I will work on this, The direct link to the astore is http://astore.amazon.co.uk/james-bond-21 (Actually quite cool as James Bond 21 is Casino Royale - the new James Bond Film with Daniel Craig

To try and keep track of these stores I have set up a dedicated Tag on Delicious and linked back to this from most of my 'Free standing' Stores
